CIA Speech (a bust)

  • Originally, this was supposed to be a meeting to appoint a new CIA director (Mike Pompeo) - Senate Democrats delayed approval.
  • About 40 Trump supporters were placed in the front rows to make it sound like there was more support than there was.
  • Meeting was awkward and did not help relations with the intelligence community.

High points:
  • "So we should have kept the oil.  But okay.  (Laughter.)  Maybe you'll have another chance.  But the fact is, should have kept the oil."
  • "I have a running war with the media.  They are among the most dishonest human beings on Earth."  (Laughter and applause.)
  • "We did a thing yesterday at the speech.  Did everybody like the speech?"  (Applause.)
  • "God looked down and he said, we're not going to let it rain on your speech."
  • "I looked out, the field was -- it looked like a million, million and a half people." (actual estimates are about 140,000)
  • "So we caught them, and we caught them in a beauty.  And I think they're going to pay a big price."
